Happy Sunday, y’all! I. hope you are enjoying a relaxing day today. Now that the weather is starting to cool down in Philly, I have been itching to pick up an atmospheric, spooky book to get me in the fall spirit.
Now, I have to admit, I am actively afraid of ghosts, so I typically avoid any ghost stories unless it’s broad daylight and I know I won’t be home alone for the next week or so, but I do love an unreliable narrator, an unexpected plot twist, or a murder mystery!
Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier
This is one of my favorite books of all time. The writing is absolutely beautiful, and the spooky feeling of not knowing who to trust will definitely keep you in suspense!
The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair by Joël Dicker
This book is so. good. If you like a murder mystery, this one is definitely for you! It is definitely a hefty book, but the writing is amazing and you will end up breezing through it.
The Turn of the Screw by Henry James
I truly believe this is the scariest book I’ve ever read. Children, potential ghosts, AND an unreliable narrator? Why do children and ghosts make everything so much creepier?!
